Adj. Gen. McBean Retires From National Guard

Dec. 30, 2004 – Cleave A. McBean is retiring on Dec. 31 as the adjutant general of the V.I. National Guard and the executive director of the V.I. Territorial Emergency Management Agency.
In accepting his notice of retirement, Gov. Charles W. Turnbull thanked McBean for his service to the country and the territory and wished him well in all his future endeavors.
Turnbull appointed Col. Eddy Charles, presently drug policy advisor to the governor and administrator of the Law Enforcement Planning Commission, as acting adjutant general of the National Guard and executive director of VITEMA, effective Jan. 1, 2005.
Charles served in the US Army from October 1971 to December 1974 and has been a career member of the National Guard since 1976.
LEPC grant administrator Meredith Nielsen has been appointed by the governor to take over as acting drug policy advisor to the governor and acting administrator of LEPC.
