Polymnia Choral Ensemble to Perform Dec. 18

Dec. 14, 2004 – Continuing the smorgasbord of concerts available on St. Thomas during the Christmas season, the chamber choral ensemble Polymnia will present "An Evening of Sacred Music" Saturday at the Nisky Moravian Church.
The ensemble, founded and directed by Dr. Lorna C. Young-Wright, will present Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Coronation Mass and Franz Schubert's Mass in G. Accompaniment will be by the Porta Coeli Chamber Players and by Albert Lynch on piano. Holiday music is also programmed, a release said.
The ensemble performed the two major works during their July 3 Paris concert.
The program begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased from Polymnia members or at the door.
The name Polymnia is the alternate spelling of Polyhymnia, the Greek muse of sacred music and harmony.
