News Brief: Berry Mum Until Tuesday on Presidency

Nov. 22, 2004 –– Sen. Lorraine Berry said Monday evening that an announcement would be made Tuesday afternoon on the organization of the 26th Legislature.
She declined to confirm speculation that she would assume the presidency, with Sen. Norman Jn Baptiste as vice president. (See: (See: "Senators Still Jockeying for Position")
However, informed sources said, as of Monday afternoon, Berry was the majority's choice for the president's seat when the 26th Legislature convenes in January.
