St. Croix Native is Air Jamaica's Regional Manager

Nov. 9, 2004 – Air Jamaica has appointed Steve Bennett, 33, to the position of regional manager, public relations. Based in Miami, and reporting to the senior vice president of sales and marketing, Bennett will have responsibility for the airline's public relations programs in the United States and Canada. A native of St. Croix, Bennett brings 10 years of Caribbean-focused hospitality and tourism industry experience to Air Jamaica. According to a press release, Bennett has spearheaded public relations and marketing initiatives with Delta Vacations, Continental Airlines Vacations, American Airlines, Hilton International, the Government of Puerto Rico, Norwegian Cruise Line, the Caribbean Tourism Organization and the Caribbean Hotel Association.
Immediately prior to joining the Air Jamaica team, Bennett served as the director of public relations at Starmark International, a marketing communications agency headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He began his career in New York with Bozell Public Relations and later moved to Hill & Knowlton's New York office. He relocated to South Florida in 1997.
Bennett holds bachelor's degrees in English and economics from Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pa. He resides in Fort Lauderdale with his wife and two children.
The press release stated, "Air Jamaica is a service-oriented passenger airline offering travelers a level of comfort, convenience and amenities not commonly found in air travel today." All Air Jamaica flights feature hot meals and unlimited complimentary champagne, wine and beer for all passengers of legal drinking age.
The Air Jamaica fleet is comprised of 20 new Airbus A320, A321 and A340 aircraft. Air Jamaica operates more than 400 weekly scheduled flights connecting 15 gateways in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom with 12 Caribbean destinations.
