Oct. 26, 2004 – V.I. Community AIDS Research and Education will hold its 10th Annual Halloween Fundraiser and Costume Party, Saturday, Oct. 30, at 8 p.m. at Cruzana Manor in Christiansted.
All of the proceeds from the event will go towards the medical treatment and care of HIV-positive clients and the continuation of HIV-prevention programs, specifically youth-based HIV-prevention programs.
This is VICARE's biggest fundraiser. Last year over 350 people attended the event and VICARE was able to raise $20,000 for crucial HIV prevention and treatment services, according to press materials.
Tickets are $15 in advance, and $20 at the door. They can be bought in advance at People's Drug Store, Gone Tropical, Gallows Bay Hardware and VICARE.
This year organizers promise great music, delicious hors d'oeuvres and wonderful raffle prizes, including diamond stud earrings from Gems Direct and a weekend stay at the Ritz Carlton on St. Thomas with round-trip airfare on Cape Air. There will also be prizes for the best costumes, including a weekend stay at the Marriot Frenchman's Reef on St, Thomas, with round-trip airfare on Seaborne Airlines; a weekend stay at the Buccaneer Hotel with a spa package from Ambrosia and Ann…Spa to Go; and a weekend stay at the Divi Carina Bay Resort.
VICARE is the only non-profit 501(c)(3) organization on St. Croix dedicated providing HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment services. VICARE was created in 1994 to educate the people of the Virgin Islands about the prevention of HIV infection and to support and care for people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Currently VICARE provides vital HIV prevention programs to youth, substance users, women and the incarcerated populations, and also conducts free HIV testing and counseling for the St. Croix community. VICARE also provides a support group, housing, and emergency assistance to people living with HIV/AIDS.
