Police Announce Liberty Day Roadway Restrictions

Oct. 26, 2004 – Deputy Chief of Police Herminio Velazquez advises the motoring public of the following parking restrictions and traffic flow changes scheduled for the Liberty Day activity to be held Nov. 1 at the David Hamilton Jackson Park, Estate Grove Place.
The roadway west of the David Hamilton Jackson Park will be one way from north to south. Parking on this roadway is limited to the eastern side, except in the area directly in front of the bandstand where parking is prohibited, Velazquez said in a release.
These restrictions will be in effect from 10 a.m. until completion of Liberty Day activities. Any vehicles found parked in restricted areas will be ticketed and/or towed at the owner's expense, he said.
Vendors will not be permitted to do business within 100 feet of the park unless they obtain a special permit to conduct business in said area from the Grove Place Action Committee. In addition, the sale of toy guns and knives, laser beams and offensive smoke bombs is discouraged, he said.
