Candidates: Reflect on Perspectives of Voters

Dear Election 2004 Candidates,
Election Day 2004 is right around the corner. While your focus of the moment is on garnering as many votes as is necessary to insure the success of your bid for the Legislature, please take a moment to reflect on the perspective of we, the collective voters.
We are going to the polls in order to effect a change. A change for a good quality of life. A change from mismanagement. A change from misleading. A change from self-serving, egotistical, band-standing personas. We demand a change to reflect quality of health care, quality of education, quality of public safety and protection. We are now demanding quality of infrastructure repair, replacement, renovation, maintenance, operation and service. We demand a change to reflect quality of financial management and planning. We demand your focus to be on the overall quality of existence for us, our living conditions, our security and the positive progress of this Territory we love so much.
And, with our vote, we are demanding of you, our potential employee, to handle yourself with honor, integrity and character. We will accept nothing less. Retaining your job depends on it.
Concern yourself not so much with yourself, your needs, aspirations and desires, but more so with those of us, your employers. The time is now to begin to operate this government as a finely run business. With your successful bid comes the responsibility of representing us, your employers, in a fashion of which we approve. Be a respectful employee. Be not patronizing, demeaning, condescending or think yourself as being superior to us. We are your employers. Show us the respect that comes with the position.
You want the job? Be honest. Be open, and be forthright. Report to us on all matters, giving opportunity for us to guide you as to our position and desire of outcome. Wait not until the tenth hour to advise us of critical matters. Know that all of your actions will be documented to your collective "personnel file" and when the time comes for our "employee evaluation," please know, our decision on your continuing in your highly sought after position will be determined by our review of that "personnel file." Yes, we will demand accountability.
Above all, we, your employers, are demanding that you conduct yourself in a highly conscientious, honorable, professional and respectful manner. Represent us well. We demand it.
Sincerely,
Bridget L. Cox-Dawson
