Oct. 14, 2004 – The V.I. Energy Office will recognize the St. Croix vocational school's diesel technology program – its instructor, Joseph Schrader, and students – as the recipients of the Vincent D. George "Light the Way" award on Oct. 20 at 1 p.m.
In a press release, Commissioner Dean C. Plaskett, of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources, said the program is being acknowledged for its accomplishments and contributions to the promotion of renewable energy technology through its biodiesel project, which converts waste vegetable oil into diesel fuel and other products.
Plaskett added, "The ''Light the Way" award commemorates the life of a departed colleague and recognizes organizations and individuals in our community that have championed energy-efficiency and renewable energy technology. The initiatives and accomplishments of the St. Croix vocational school's diesel technology program demonstrate a commitment to the promotion of energy-efficiency and renewable energy technology."
The public is encouraged to attend the program, scheduled in the vocational school's diesel technology classroom.
