Red Cross Disaster Services Training Schedule

Oct. 10, 2004 – The Red Cross is offering a series of Disaster Services training courses in October through December on St. Thomas (see listings below).
According to Mary Joe Williams, co-chairwoman, Disaster Services, American Red Cross of the Virgin Islands, the Introduction to Disaster Services course is the prerequisite for all of the other courses.
Anyone interested in attending the courses must call the Red Cross Office (774-0375) at least two working days before the class to pre-register. Anyone who has already taken these courses may also pre-register to attend the course as a refresher. If service organizations or other groups are interested in being trained together, please contact the Red Cross Office so that arrangements can be made. Individuals that have taken the courses and have not yet been assigned to a function area, please contact the office also, she said.

-Intro to Disaster, Tuesday, Oct. 12, 5:30-8:30 p.m., Home Depot.
-Human Resources in Disaster, Saturday, Oct. 16, 9 a.m.-noon, Home Depot.
-Logistics, Monday, Oct. 18, 5:30-8:30 p.m., Palms Court.
-Mass Care Overview, Wednesday, Oct. 20, 5:30-8:30 p.m., Home Depot.
-Emergency Assistance, Saturday, Oct. 23, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Home Depot.
-Disaster Mental Health, Wednesday, Oct. 27, 5:30-9:30 p.m., Palms Court.
-Disaster Assessment, Monday, Nov. 1, 6-9 p.m., Palms Court.
-DWI, Saturday, Saturday, Nov. 6, 9 a.m.-noon, Home Depot
-Emergency Assistance (Family Services), Saturday, Nov. 13, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Home Depot.
-Shelter Operations, Tuesday, Nov. 16, 6-9 p.m., Home Depot.
-Records and Reports, Saturday, Nov. 20, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Home Depot.
-Serving a Diverse Community, Saturday, Dec. 11, 9 a.m.-noon, Home Depot.
-Human Resources in Disaster, Saturday, Dec. 18, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Home Depot.
