UVI Little Theater Rehearses for November Production of 'The Mousetrap'

PRAXIS Examination Preparation Seminar Offered on St. Croix
A six-week PRAXIS examination preparation seminar will be held on UVI's St. Croix campus beginning Saturday, Oct. 9. The seminar will be conducted by associate professor of Education Dr. Jeannette Lovern. The cost for the complete, three-section seminar is $150. Individual sections in reading, math and writing are available at $50 each. Students may sign up with Irene Ramos in Evans Center Room 510. Passage of the PRAXIS examination – which is authorized for teacher certification in the Virgin Islands – is a pre-requisite for UVI education majors. The next PRAXIS examination is scheduled for Nov. 20. Information is also available on-line at http://www.ets.org .

El Gran Combo to Open Reichhold Center for the Arts Season Oct. 9-10
The Reichhold Center for the Arts opens its 2004-2005 season with the Ambassadors of Latin Music, El Gran Combo, on Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Reichhold Center for the Arts, St. Thomas and on Sunday, Oct. 10, at the Island Center for the Performing Arts on St. Croix. UVI Trustees to Meet Oct. 16 on St. Croix Campus
UVI Board of Trustees will conduct its next regular meeting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, on the St. Croix campus in the Research and Extension Center.
UVI Concert Band to Present Fall Concert on Oct. 16
The University of the Virgin Islands Concert Band will present its fall semester concert – Shine Jesus Shine – at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Christ Church Methodist church at Market Square in Charlotte Amalie. The UVI Concert band is directed by Prof. Austin A. Venzen. The concert, which is sponsored by the UVI Music Department, will feature solo performances by Eugenia Chapman, Detra Davis and Malvern Gumbs. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. They are available at Nora's Beauty Salon, from Concert Band members, and the UVI Bookstore and Humanities Division office on the St. Thomas campus. For more information contact Venzen at 693-1192.
Voices That Count Conference Planned on St. Croix, St. Thomas
People with disabilities will have the opportunity to voice their concerns about issues affecting them at the 2004 Voices That Count conference. The conference, which will consist of forums held on St. Thomas and St. Croix, is designed to bring about frank discussion among people with disabilities, representatives of support services and government officials. The St. Croix forums will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 18 and 19 at Gertrude's Restaurant. The St. Thomas forums will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 21 and 22 at the Holiday Inn Windward Passage Hotel.
