Sept. 23, 2004 V.I.. Commissioner of Tourism Pamela C. Richards has announced her recent nomination to the 2005 board of directors for the Travel Industry Association of America. This non-profit organization represents the common interests and concerns of all components of the U.S. travel industry, according to press materials.
"I am very honored to accept the nomination to this prestigious board alongside many of the travel industry's most respected leaders," Richards said. "It would be a privilege for me to serve in this capacity and to represent the interests of the Caribbean region."
Richards is one of eight persons nominated to serve a two-year term on the association's board of directors. Her nomination is expected to be confirmed at the annual TIA Marketing Outlook Forum in Phoenix/Scottsdale, Ariz., October 27-29. Five industry leaders were also nominated to the association's new slate of officers.
Adam Goldstein, executive vice president of Royal Caribbean International and a member of the TIA nominating committee, said, "I look forward to serving with her on the board. I think she will be a credit to our board and the work that we do to facilitate increased travel to and within the United States."
TIA is recognized as a leader in providing the travel industry with domestic and international marketing, research, communications, government affairs and industry-wide forums, according to press materials.
