Hill Street into Savan Is Going to Be One Way

Sept. 13, 2004 — Residents in the Savan and Nye Nordsidevej areas near the Palms Court Harborview Hotel should soon observe a shift in the flow of traffic.
Effective Oct.1, Hill Street — the road from the corner of the Danish Chalet Inn leading to Savan — will be converted into a one-way street. Traffic will flow downward only from the Danish Chalet Inn into Savan, V.I. Police Department Deputy Chief Elvin Fahie said Monday.
Fahie said the area has become a problem, especially when events are occurring at the Palms Court Harbourview Hotel. During a recent incident where gunshots were fired in the hotel, Fahie said it was difficult to direct individuals out of the area.
"This is one effort to make it easier for the movement of residents in the area," Sgt. Thomas Hannah, police spokesman, said. "We hope to alleviate the traffic problems in the area by doing this."
Fahie said they would be educating the public of the change until Sept. 30.
