Police Officers Recognized for 'Unwavering Effort'

Sept. 12, 2004 – Police Commissioner Elton Lewis, Territorial Police Chief Francis, Deputy Chief Herminio Velazquez and the members of the V. I. Police Department recently announced the selection of the following police officers as Officer of the Month:
– Police Officer Cuthbert Chapman of the Wilbur Francis Command for April.
– Police Detective Raymond Kean of the Criminal Investigation Bureau for May.
– Police Officer Cecil Gumbs of the Anselmo Marshall Command for June.
– Police Detective Jose Silva of the Criminal Investigation Bureau for July.
– Police Officer Leon Cruz of the Wilbur Francis Command also for July.
According to a press release from the V.I. Police Department, "These officers were selected for their dedication and commitment to duty, tenacity to doing an excellent job and the perseverance to make St. Croix safer for citizens and visitors. "
Lewis stated, "On behalf of your fellow officers and the V. I. Police Department, congratulations are extended to all of the officers and detectives on their designation as Officers of the Month. Your performance exemplifies our unwavering effort to serve and protect the citizens of the Virgin Islands. You have demonstrated by action that you are truly, 'second to none.' Territorial Chief Novelle Francis and Deputy Chief Herminio Velazquez extend their congratulations to you for this outstanding achievement. Keep up the good work."
