UVI Bulletin Board: St. Thomas Samuels Show Added

July 19, 2004 – The University of the Virgin Islands Bulletin Board issued today has these announcements:

Fall Classes to Begin Aug. 19; Student Orientation Schedule Online
UVI's fall 2004 semester classes will begin on Thursday, Aug. 19. Student orientation for the semester is set for Sunday, Aug. 15, through Wednesday, Aug. 18. The full student orientation schedules for the St. Croix and St. Thomas campuses are now available in the "Academics" section of the UVI Web site (link below). Orientation schedules are also available at this direct link.
Summer Session Classes to End July 26
Monday, July 26, is the last day of summer session classes. The last day for instructors to submit grades and the last day of the summer session are both Wednesday, July 28.
Caribbean Food Crops Meeting for Agriculturists Opens on St. John
The 40th annual Caribbean Food Crops Society meeting began July 19 on St John. It continues through July 23. Kwame García, director of UVI's Cooperative Extension Service, is the current CFCS president. One hundred and fifty agriculturists representing 22 countries are expected to attend the session. Agricultural issues that affect the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Caribbean region will be on the agenda. Read the full news release on the UVI Web site.
STARfest Featured Each Monday on WTJX-TV
The Virgin Islands' best singers and dancers are being featured each Monday in STARfest on WTJX Public Television. The program includes highlights from past STARfests and airs at 8 p.m. It is offered in collaboration with UVI's Reichhold Center for the Arts.
Free HIV Testing Scheduled July 21 on St. Thomas Campus
The V.I. Health Department's HIV Prevention Program in conjunction with the UVI Health Services office will offer free, confidential HIV Testing at the UVI Health Services Center on the St. Thomas campus from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21. The testing is offered to the entire UVI Community as well as the general public. Results from the June 23 on-campus testing will also be available. Reichhold Adds Second Oliver Samuels Performance on St. Thomas
UVI's Reichhold Center for the Arts has announced that an additional performance by Oliver Samuels & Company in Patrick Brown's comedy "Christopher Cum-Buck-Us" has been scheduled on St. Thomas on Sunday, Aug. 15. Shows are now planned on St. Croix at the Island Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, Aug. 13, and on St. Thomas at the Reichhold Center on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 14 and 15. All shows begin at 8 p.m.
Tickets are available on St. Croix at People's Drug Store (Sunny Isles), Pier 69 (Frederiksted), Urban Threadz (Christiansted), Reichhold Center ticketing office via telephone and the UVI Bookstore. On St. Thomas, tickets are available at Modern Music (both locations), Krystal Gifts Galore (Tutu Park Mall), Parrot Fish (Backstreet), the UVI Bookstore, Connections (St. John), and the Reichhold Center ticketing office.
