Investigation Continuing into Taxi Driver's Death

June 29, 2004 – Police on St. Thomas are continuing their investigation into the shooting death of taxi driver Rutherford Prevost, 59, of the Tutu High Rise Apartments.
According to St. Thomas Deputy Police Chief Elvin Fahie Sr., detectives were pursuing several leads on Tuesday.
Police received a report of gunshots in the area of Building 19 in the housing complex shortly before midnight last Thursday. Fahie said that when officers arrived they found Prevost's body lying in the street next to his taxi van. He said Prevost has been shot twice.
Fahie said the location where the victim was found had not been the scene of any other recent crimes, but there have been criminal incidents in and around the area.
The death is the eighth on St. Thomas this year and was the 19th in the territory.
