June 7, 2004 – Travis D. Wheatley received his Juris Doctor degree from the Marshall Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va., on May 16.
A St. Thomas native, Wheatley graduated from All Saints Cathedral High School in 1995 and received his bachelor's degree from Harvard University in 2000. He is the son of Maurice Wheatley of St. Thomas and Dawn Strong Wheatley of St. Croix.
He will sit for the Virginia Bar Examination in July. Wheatley plans to join LeClair Ryan, P.C., a law firm in Richmond, Va., and work in the areas of corporate and securities law.
Founded in 1779, William and Mary Law School was the first law school in America. The first law professor at William and Mary was George Wythe, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. His students included President Thomas Jefferson and Supreme Court Chief Justice John Marshall.
