June 2, 2004 – FirstBank will hold its annual homeownership expositions on St. Thomas and St. Croix on two consecutive Saturdays. The theme of the expo is "Exploring Homeownership Opportunities" and celebrates June as National Homeownership Month.
According to a press release from FirstBank, the expo is an open house where participants can receive educational information and counseling on how to prepare for homeownership. Participants will learn budgeting techniques to increase saving toward a down payment, mortgage program options, how much mortgage you can afford based on income and how to repair damaged credit.
Several housing agencies and organizations will share information about their homeownership programs and services. Childcare and a continental breakfast will be provided at no cost. Participants may also check into their credit history at no charge once a picture ID is provided.
The press release added, "FirstBank recognizes that homeownership is a dream many Virgin Islanders desire to achieve."
"The Homeownership Expo is designed as a 'one stop shop' whereby a potential home buyer can fully understand how to maximize their ability to accomplish their dream of homeownership. If you know you are not ready to purchase a home now, coming to the expo can show you how to correct or overcome areas where you are weak, even if it may take some time," says Karen Sprauve, assistant vice president FirstBank.
The Expo will be held 9 a.m. until noon; on St. Thomas, June 5, at FirstBank Waterfront Branch and on St. Croix, June 12, at FirstBank Orange Grove Branch.
