May 26, 2004 – Sen. Shawn-Michael Malone will be hosting "Readinaires on the Green" Saturday, May 29, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at UVI Sports and Fitness Center field. This event is to celebrate the successful completion of his reading program in ten of the thirteen elementary schools in the St.Thomas/St. John School district.
The Reading to Achieve Book Club was themed Who wants to be a Readinaire.
Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the schools that participated. Outdoor entertainment, clowns, face painting, and mocko jumbies will be on hand for the event. DJ Tony T of 105 jams and the Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School steel pan, "Burning Blazers", will provide music. The community is invited to share in the celebration.
