May 24, 2004 – Caribbean Cable and Telecommunications Association is awarding $750 grants to 12 charitable organizations throughout the Caribbean. Each individual charity was nominated by a cable system operating in its community.
Roderich Pietersz, chairman of the CCTA and general manager of T.V. Distribution Systems N.V. on Curacao, stated "the 12 outstanding nominees and their missions made it difficult to decide between them. Although the Association normally gives just ten grants per year, the board decided that all nominees deserved grant monies to continue their worthwhile activities."
The recipients and their sponsoring companies in the U.S. Virgin Islands are: Caribbean Community Theater Inc., nominated by Innovative Cable TV St. Croix; and United Way of St. Thomas-St. John, nominated by Innovative Cable TV St. Thomas/St. John.
Formed in 1983, the Caribbean Cable and Telecommunications Association represents cable and telecommunications providers. The Community Charities Program was founded more than a decade ago and has awarded over $125,000 to Caribbean charities during its existence.
