May 10, 2004 – St. Croix police officers are carrying on with National Police Week events and, in the process, honoring fallen police officer, Cuthbert Chapman.
The first event was Sunday with a Mother's Day brunch at Divi Carina Bay Resort and Casino.
On Monday, May 10, a softball game at Terrance Martin field at 6 p.m. will feature members of the V.I. police, corrections and fire departments.
On Tuesday, same place and time, the police department will have in-house competition.
On Wednesday, there will be an open house at the Rainbow building 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A tour of the new building will be offered and refreshments served.
On Wednesday, bowling will be featured at the Tropical Ten Pins with law enforcement and fire department members.
On Thursday, Karaoke will be sung at Cheeseburger in Paradise at 7 p.m., hosted by Dean Hodge.
On Friday, the police department family will get together at a pavilion at Patrick Sweeny Headquarters at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, officers will honor officers who died in the line of duty. At 9 a.m. officers will have a parade from the Frederiksted Post culminating in a motorcade to the Patrick Sweeny Headquarters for a memorial service at 11 a.m.
The final activity is the Retirement Ball starting at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Divi Carina under the casino.
In a press release, announcing the events, an officer said the police department would like to thank the public "for the love and support they have poured out to us and the Chapman family."
