BEACH-TO-BEACH POWER SWIM NEEDS VOLUNTEERS

April 30, 2004 – The Friends of Virgin Islands National Park Beach-to-Beach Power Swim is Sunday, May 30. A press release from the Friends seeks help to make the event a success. More than 50 volunteers are needed to fill positions the day of the event.
Twenty, experienced kayakers are needed to cover the course from Maho to Hawksnest and keep an eye on swimmers and provide assistance as needed. General assistance will be needed at Maho Bay beach to set-up the start gate and check-in swimmers. Volunteer crews at Cinnamon, Trunk, and Hawksnest beaches will be needed to set-up gates, assist the timekeepers, and help breakdown after the event. Two volunteers with dinghies will also be needed as floating water stations for swimmers.
Volunteer training dates prior to the race will be announced. Please call Emily at the Friends at 779-4940 for more information.
