April 15, 2004 – The waterfront apron will undergo its annual temporary transformation into an alternative parking facility on Sunday, when the Fort Christian lot will be closed to traffic to accommodate the V.I. Carnival Village.
The parking lot will remain off limits for parking until the rides and booths have been dismantled following the last lap Calypso Spectakula on May 1.
In addition, police announced on Thursday that Hospital Gade will be closed to traffic along the block between Veterans Drive and Norre Gade through May 2.
Until the parking lot reopens, "the Port Authority has given permission for drivers to park their vehicles along the waterfront apron," a Police Department release stated. But it warned that anyone parking there "in a manner which might obstruct the flow of traffic on the roadway" may be issued a citation.
