CROWN MOUNTAIN ROAD SECTION TO CLOSE FRIDAY

April 14, 2004 – The stretch of Crown Mountain Road between the bottom of Scott Free and Route 301, the Estate Pearl turnoff, will be closed to through traffic on Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. while Public Works Department crews pour concrete to construct a new retaining wall.
The section of Crown Mountain Road, also called Route 33, rises to the Crown and Hawk summit and then descends on the other side.
In a Government House release issued on Wednesday, Public Works Commissioner Wayne Callwood recommended that motorists traveling to the North Side on Friday use Solberg Road if coming from the west and Mafolie Road if coming from the east.
Crown Mountain Road detour signs will be posted and flaggers will be on duty, he said.
Access will be allowed to area residents and emergency vehicles, Callwood said.
