Dear Source,

I was born on the beautiful grounds of St. Croix. I currently attend school abroad. It hurts me to see every time I come home that my island is going down the drain and that the people and the government are not doing anything at all to help her get back on her feet.
St. Croix is an intoxicating island. She has a lot of beauty to offer to first time visitors. She has the ability to affect one's mind and life. She has within her embrace the ability to leave an everlasting impression on someone's heart. But she is being neglected.
Too much attention is being given to St. Thomas. St. Croix is the largest of the Virgins. She has the space to develop new properties, which would attract many people from around the globe. But no one sees her potential.
It hurts my heart when I hear that cruise ships prefer to dock at St. Thomas. The main problem I feel is that the people don't want change. They are afraid of change and they are selfish people. I can say this because they are MY people and they need to be told.
Frederiksted has a lot of potential for growth. The economy would boom if stores would open along the docks. Clean up the place, paint her walls in different vibrant colors. Do something instead of always talking. Talk, talk, talk. So much talk to make the government look like it is actually trying to do something productive. Actions speak louder than words.
St. Croix has so much to offer. Why are you allowing her to die? You all must speak life into her soul. Plant positive affirmations into her soil. Bring her back to life by nurturing her streets and her buildings. Get the people out of their comfort zones! St. Croix is the largest of the Virgins. She is the most beautiful of the three. She is calling out for help.
WE young people who are from there want to come back home to an island that has something to offer us. What do you have to offer the visitors? If you are running away your young people, how can you expect to keep the tourist? Yes you can all get together to make some money to get her out of debt and give her a makeover… but in the meantime, St. Croix needs a personality and an attitude to kick things off.
You need to get people who have a deep love and a passion for St. Croix. You got to find someone who is driven to bring her back to life. Stop. Stop hurting her. Bring St. Croix back to life! Now! Stop talking and do something!
…And those are my thoughts.
Thank you for your time and have a blessed day!
