PUBLIC WORKS SEWAGE HOTLINE NOT WORKING YET

April 6, 2004 – The Public Works Department has a telephone hotline for St. Croix residents and visitors to report sewage problems at night and on weekends and holidays.
The number, according to a Government House release issued on Tuesday, is 773-6443.
In the release, Public Works Commissioner Wayne D. Callwood said the number is answered by department staff during regular working hours and is being monitored at other times by Public Works personnel.
"Reports will be evaluated and responded to according to their urgency," Callwood said.
The number is given for "Utilities" in the current telephone directory's Government Section under the Public Works Department listings for Christiansted.
However, calls placed to the number on Tuesday night were forwarded to a fax machine.
