JOBS AT YACHT HAVEN A PRIORITY FOR LABOR DEPT.

March 23, 2004 – The Labor Department is discussing with Insignia-USVI, the developers of the new Yacht Haven, what job opportunities will become available as the Yacht Haven reconstruction project moves forward, said Labor Commissioner Cecil R. Benjamin in a press release issued Tuesday.
"We are working closely so local people will have the opportunity to apply," department spokeswoman Janelle Gumbs said.
She said the department met with Insignia officials on March 12 to discuss rules and regulations, department policies and procedures, as well as recruitment and hiring requirements.
Gumbs said that every new employer has to advise the Labor Department of its vacancies.
Job opportunities will be announced at a later date.
For more information, call the Labor Department's Job Service Division at 776-3700, extension 2055.
