V.I. MOTORISTS COULD BE FACING A NEW GAS TAX

Dear Source:
First of all the DLCA should not levy any tax on anyone until all of the research information is collected. There should be some other way to collect this information other than from the wholesalers themselves. I am sure the wholesalers have to report to a federal agency. Additionally, gas prices are escalating all over and to impose an additional tax on top of that is ludicrous. The DLCA is speaking about revenue streams then impose the taxes on the wholesalers. Additionally, I never understood why we have a refinery in St. Croix and we still have to import gas from elsewhere. The bottom line for the revenue stream dilemma in the Virgin Islands – the Government continues to impose tax breaks on the businesses that come into the Virgin Islands, especially the monopolies.
Thank you,
S. Storrod
