OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR MEDICARE TO MARCH 31

March 14, 2004 – Lt. Govt. Vargrave Richards urges all Medicare-eligible individuals who are 65 years and older to visit their Social Security Administration office to enroll in the Medicare program.
Social Security is conducting an "open enrollment" period that ends March 31, and there are no penalties for enrolling late during this time. The local office has information on all Medicare benefits.
Once enrolled and with a Medicare care, seniors may go to the V.I. SHIP/Medicare Office for counseling and assistance.
Local Social Security offices are in Nisky Center on St. Thomas and in Sunny Isle on St. Croix. For appointments, call 774-5247 on St. Thomas or 778-5946 on St. Croix. Reach the V.I. SHIP/Medicare Office at 714-4354.
