March 9, 2004 – A new "Ticket to Work Program" put together by V.I. Advocacy Inc. is aimed at helping recipients of Social Security disability benefits in the territory to find permanent jobs.
Through the program, V.I. Advocacy, a protection and advocacy organization for persons with disabilities, offers individuals with disabilities the opportunity to achieve long-term employment, a release from the agency stated. The program also seeks to remove obstacles that have forced individuals to choose between health-care coverage and work.
"We are very pleased to have completed a directory of services for people with disabilities who wish to return to work," Amelia Headley LaMont, executive director of V.I. Advocacy, said. "Our organization appreciates the hard work and involvement of many individuals, agencies and organizations that made this possible."
