Speaking in her position as a member of the Northside Civic Organization, Senator Lorraine L. Berry urges the public to support three baseball teams in a benefit game for the two fishermen who suffered ruinous debts when their boat was confiscated by the B.V.I.
Berry praised the Tortola 40-Plus team for joining in this effort with two U.S.V.I. teams – St. Thomas 40-plus and the St. John Ambassadors — in a fast-pitch game to be held at the Joseph Aubain Ballpark at 6:30 p.m., this Saturday, Feb. 21.
Berry noted that Nicole Vento, scion of the family that donated $25,000 toward fines and legal expenses suffered by the fishermen, will throw the first ball.
Berry also noted raffle tickets will be available for only $5 per chance and $50 per book, featuring unusual prizes:
– 1st Prize: Magnificent St. Barts Villa by the sea for seven days, with four round-trip tickets for two from air St. Thomas;
– 2nd Prize: Luxurious seven-day cruise for two offered by Florida Caribbean Cruise Lines;
– 3rd Prize: Fabulous long weekend (three days and nights) for two at Caneel Bay, St. John;
– 4th Prize: Exciting helicopter tour of St. Thomas for four by Blue Water Aviation;
– 5th Prize: Fisherman’s Classic Penn Senator rod and reel from Neptune Fishing Supplies.
Food and beverages will be on sale along with a 50-50 cash raffle, Berry added.
Berry said she hoped to see a large turnout of friends and well-wishers at this benefit game this Saturday.
