UVI BULLETIN BOARD

Feb. 12, 2004 – The University of the Virgin Islands Bulletin Board issued today has these announcements:
Participants Sought for UVI's 2004 Carnival Floupe
The UVI community engagement committee is excited about this year's floupe entry in the V.I. Carnival Parade. The committee has adopted a theme that reflects the V.I. Carnival Committee's "Through a Cultural Door for Carnival 2004" theme. The UVI floupe's theme is: "Knowledge, Culture and More for UVI Carnival 2004." The concept is to have a UVI float depicting the brain (symbolizing intellect) and costumes connected to three cultures that contributed to present-day knowledge in the Virgin Islands and Caribbean region – African, Taino Indian and Greco-Roman.
Costume prices are expected to be in the range of about $100. Costume sketches will be displayed on-line and on posters by Wednesday, Feb. 11. Sign-up for St. Thomas students will take place in the office of student affairs on St. Thomas and in the Chancellor's office for faculty/staff. The floupe would be enhanced by the participation of St. Croix students, staff and faculty. Further information about St. Croix sign-up sheets will be made available later this week. For further information, please call Cherie Wheatley at 693-1541.
