Feb. 7, 2004 – FULL MOON on Friday, February 6: Moon in Leo, Sun in Aquarius conjunct Neptune.
Nothing seems too much more important today than watching the purple shadows of the clouds drift across the turquoise waters of Coral Bay. From my hill high above the bay, I watch the shadows touch boat after tiny boat. Now and then a boat will hoist its sails, billowing white, and glide out of the bay.
Neptune is the god of the sea, a great teacher here in the Caribbean. It seems especially relevant under this Moon to watch the waters for signs of the times, to celestially navigate by the stars — in horoscopes, in the skies and in our eyes — all One.
The last five weeks I have been doing just that with the Omega Institute programs that come to the Virgin Islands each year. Omega is a holistic education center based in Rhinebeck, N.Y., with other sites in Austin, Costa
Rica and at Maho Bay campground in St. John. This past week, a group of about 85 people gathered to commune on many levels. Of the 22 chart readings I did, everyone had planets in Aquarius. An underlying quest of the week was to consider how to proceed in accelerating and incorporating a new level of consciousness into our social and cultural activities.
With Uranus now in Pisces, a new seven-year cycle is awakening in our collective consciousness. This new flow suggests frequency shifts and increased vibrational sensitivity. As below, so above — those purple shadows are drifting across the cosmic seas as well, perhaps in ultraviolet, infrared and gamma ray hues. Solar flares continue to charge up our magnetic field. Volcanic eruptions in Indonesia and Yellowstone National Park this past week are giving us strong hints. We need the Medicine People to do a healing Sun Dance in that volatile U.S. park.
Neptune in Aquarius and Uranus in Pisces are in cohoots, indicating a renaissance of awareness. Are you feeling it, seeing subtle new colors and pulsing energies in your environment, a heightened urge to seek alternatives? Look around for the real news; talk to people. You won¹t hear much of it on TV. If the Superbowl show reflected our collective state of consciousness, we need to wake up and smell the flowers!
Our recent, highly Aquarian group experience was uplifting. If this is what we are heading into, it is going to be quite wonderful. We were led by each other and the teachers of the week. We were painting, making fire, dancing, singing, drumming. We communed with angels, experienced unexpected shifts during shamanic journeys. Yoga and Qi Jong opened our bodies into grace. During simple Buddhist meditations, we prayed for the safety, happiness and health of ourselves, each other and the world. May you live in ease. There were special healing moments of release and communion. We all seemed to be in natural altered states most of the time. Swimming and sunning on the beach helped. Most profound was the quality of the group, the sharing of extraordinary individuals, as we each are.
Our small group, ages 25-72, included a computer entrepreneur, two women from an Arizona retirement community, a mother and daughter, a Harvard dream researcher, several doctors and psychotherapists, an artist who has sailed around the world — folks from across the United States as well as the N.W. territories, Nova Scotia, New Zealand, Great Britain and the Caribbean, all participating in the unconventional consciousness-raising activities above. Not a typical group, you might say. That depends on what world you are living in. We were creating our new world.
As an astrologer, I feel I'm on the frontlines for the latest news. When I read charts, I learn how people are feeling and thinking, about the work they are doing, the changes they are making and the risks they are taking. In this group, three women doctors and a dentist are helping to revolutionize the medical world by reshaping their practices and by incorporating holistic teachings into the medical curriculum. One man is starting to promote his vision of universal medical insurance based on wellness. Another man is publishing a book about his past corporate experience as an economic hit man, as he calls it, making deals with Third World companies to put them into debt so that the United States can manipulate their resources. He wants to expose this unethical policy. Such acts of courage in this small group are multiplying everywhere.
The Aquarius-Leo polarity of this Full Moon suggests that each individual makes a contribution to the group. As the movies tell us, it is the time of "The Return of the King." We each need to step into our own creativity and leadership to raise up the true King and Queen.
