KILNWORKS GALLERY SHOWING KING'S SILK PAINTINGS

Feb. 2, 2004 – Nandy King, noted for her colorful imagery of hummingbirds, florals and Caribbean houses, is showing recent paintings on Chinese silk in her 6th annual show at The Kilnworks Pottery & Art Gallery.
Currently on exhibit is a series of her popular beaches including Trunk Bay, Hawksnest, and Tortola's Cane Garden Bay and Long Bay, viewed through flambouyant blossoms. The largest painting in the show, 36" x 48," depicts a green sea turtle swimming off the coast of an island.
Because of the large number of paintings King has to exhibit, her show is being hung in two parts — the beach scenes in February and other works in March. Her subject matter also includes Caribbean limin', reggae musicians, iguanas on tree limbs, hummingbirds feeding from hibiscus, and egrets wading in lagoons.
King is a full-time artist; a part-time art teacher, photographer and carpenter; and the mother of three sons.
The gallery, located on Smith Bay Road (Route 38), is open 9 a.m. to 5 pm. Monday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays. For more information, call owner Peggy Seiwert at 775-3979.
