ARTS COUNCIL ANNUAL MEETING TO BE AT JACK'S

Jan. 26, 2004 – The annual membership meeting of the St. Thomas-St. John Arts Council will be held on Sunday afternoon at Jack's restaurant in Tillett Gardens on St. Thomas.
"We are looking forward to a new year," Cheryl Miller, council president, said. "New members are invited; old members are invited."
Annual dues are payable at the gathering, she said. For individual members they are $25. While the meeting is open to the public, only current members may vote.
Plans for 2004 include hosting the annual Caribbean Colour fine art exhibition, which will include a photography segment, "as there has been such a clamor for it by students and adults," Miller said. Other projects in the works include developing a directory of artists, galleries and annual shows.
Sunday's meeting will begin at 1 p.m. "The Arts Council will buy the first round of non-alcoholic drinks and you buy your own buffalo wings, and then we'll all talk agenda," Miller said. The meeting is expected to last about an hour and a half.
Miller also noted that Marie Daniel, longtime grants officer at the V.I. Council on the Arts, has retired and was honored last Friday at a gathering in Tillett Gardens.
VICA is a V.I. government agency that disburses National Endowment for the Arts funds. The St. Thomas-St. John Arts Council is a not-for-profit, membership-based arts advocacy organization.
