I lived full time in St. John from 2000 to 2002 and can testify from personal experience as a volunteer for the St. John Animal Care Center that there's a serious problem with animal and child abuse in the Virgin Islands. It's very depressing that a country with so much natural beauty has such an ugly problem. Having witnessed the reluctance of the local community to be proactive I have little hope that your story will do much except raise the frustration level of those who are already committed to trying to save both human and animal suffering. Thank you for not hiding this story and thank you to those who are working hard to change the V.I. animal cruelty laws!
