Sept. 18, 2003 – Rodney E. Moorehead has been nominated by the governor to fill a vacant seat on the Public Employees Relations Board as a management representative.
Moorehead has been assistant principal at Alfredo Andrews Elementary School on St. Croix since last year. He previously taught at Juanita Gardine Elementary School and while there served as a peer mentor with the U.S. Attorney's Office. His background also includes work as a field supervisor with the Education Department's child nutrition summer feeding program and as a substitute elementary teacher in California.
He holds a B.A. from California State University at San Bernardino and a master's in education from the University of the Virgin Islands.
Lt. Gov. Vargrave Richards in his capacity as acting governor announced the nomination in a Government House release issued on Tuesday. Richards said that Moorehead would take the seat formerly held by Louis Hill, who resigned after being elected to the 25th Legislature.
The five-member board consists of two representatives of labor, two of management and a chair. The nomination must be confirmed by the Senate. PERB members serve five-year terms.
