April 3 STT All day
Step Afrika!, a dance company out of Washington, D.C., featuring percussive dance form based on rhythmic footwork, is visiting the Virgin Islands the first week in April.
A free workshop/demonstration will be given at the recreation center on the St. Thomas campus for the UVI community at 6 p.m. The workshop will focus on the origin of stepping and how it relates to African ancestry.
Clinics will be given at Lockhart Elementary and Ivanna Eudora Kean High schools on St. Thomas Thursday, at times unannounced as yet. Arrangements will be made through the schools to transport students to those sites.
The visit, which includes clinics and concerts on both islands, is presented by V.I. Council on the Arts, Reichhold and Island Centers for the Arts, Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation, and the Law Enforcement Planning Commission.
