RAYMOND JAMES IS NEW GERS BOARD CHAIR

Jan. 31, 2003 – The Government Employees Retirement System board of trustees elected Raymond James as its new chair at its Jan. 16 meeting.
James, who previously was vice chair, is special assistant to the commissioner of Housing Parks and Recreation. He succeeds Carver Farrow, principal at Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School, who will continue as a member of the board until his term expires later this year, according to a GERS release.
The board elected Leona Smith, a Licensing and Consumer Affairs Department employee, as vice chair. She has held the position twice before.
