May 16, 2002 – The University of the Virgin Islands Bulletin Board issued today includes these announcements:
UVI to Graduate 300 This Weekend
Some 300 students will graduate from UVI in this weekend's 38th annual commencement exercises. On St. Thomas, commencement will be held Saturday, May 18, at 7 p.m. in the Sports and Fitness Center. On St. Croix, commencement will be held Sunday, May 19, at 4:30 p.m., on the grounds of the Kingshill campus. Tickets are required.
The keynote speaker on both campuses will be Dr. Marie McDemmond, president of Norfolk State University.
STARfest 8 Concludes This Weekend; Video to be Offered
STARfest8 concludes this weekend with 8 p.m. shows Sunday and Monday, May 19 and 20. Tickets are available at the UVI Bookstore and the Reichhold Box Office on the St. Thomas Campus. For other ticket outlets call 693-1559.
The Digital Media Institute of the Reichhold Center for the Arts is producing a videotape of STARfest 8 that can be ordered for $18 during this weekend's shows and for $20 beginning May 21. For details call 693-1550.
Youth Movie Making Workshop Scheduled
Applications are being accepted for the second annual Youth Movie Making Workshop scheduled to run from June 24 through August 9 at UVI's Reichhold Center. Space is available for 15 participants between ages 13 and 21.

Caribbean Repertory Company to Revive "For Better, For Worse"
The Reichhold Center's Caribbean Repertory Theatre Company has announced plans to revive the David Edgecombe comedy "For Better, For Worse."
Sixteen performances are scheduled, beginning June 7 in the UVI Little Theatre on the St. Thomas Campus. To reserve tickets call 693-1559.
Scholarship Bottle Cap Collection Continues
Everyone is reminded to continue collecting those bottle caps from Coca-Cola products as part of the Tom Joyner Foundation Drive to provide scholarship funds for UVI students. Look for deposit barrels on both campuses and at a variety of businesses throughout the Virgin Islands.
Workshops on Drip Irrigation Offered
UVI's Cooperative Extension Service has announced two workshops on drip irrigation. The first is scheduled for Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Nazareth Lutheran Church, in Cruz Bay, St. John. The second will be on Sunday, May 26, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the New House Building on the St. Thomas Campus of UVI. For information call 693-1080.
