Dear Source,
I am shocked and dismayed upon reading the news article, Michael to skip education forum for BVI event , that the acting commissioner of the Education Department cannot attend a public forum discussing the present crisis situation in education. Her boss believes that an event in the B.V.I .is far more important for her to attend. However, it is "a toss-up" to which other educational official for the administration will be in attendance.
Is education a "toss-up"?
Many of the officials were given ample time to respond. The Source article states that the forum was rescheduled for these officials. I am grateful for the attending forum presenters to offer their recommendations to the public. You better believe that I will make an effort to be at this forum. Do any of our elected officials feel any obligation to the children of the Virgin Islands? While I do not believe that any single forum can solve our problems, it is a start.
If they do not recognize that this is a crisis situation, it will just be another problem to worry about at a later date.
