17-YEAR-OLD FATALLY STABBED IN CARNIVAL VILLAGE

April 29, 2002 – An otherwise incident-free Carnival 50th anniversary celebration ended in tragedy late Saturday night when 17-year-old Alliston Francis Jr. was stabbed in Carnival Village and later died at Roy L. Schneider Hospital.
Francis was a student at Ivanna Eudora Kean High School and was a resident of Hidden Valley. According to Police Chief Novelle Francis, the youth was arguing with another young man near Children's Village when the suspect, who is still being sought by police, pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim repeatedly in the neck. The teen-ager died at 12:58 a.m. Sunday at Roy L. Schneider Hospital.
The Police Department's Major Crime Unit and Juvenile Bureau are investigating the killing, which is the eighth homicide on St. Thomas and the 13th in the territory for 2002.
