ATTORNEY WILL SPEAK ON SPORTS, YOUTH AND CRIME

Jan 16, 2002 – St. Thomas Youth Soccer Association invites the community to a presentation by Assistant U.S. Attorney Azekah Jennings at 6 p.m. Friday in Caribbean Room-A of the Windward Passage-Holiday Inn Hotel on the St. Thomas waterfront.
Jennings will speak on "Crime Prevention and Building Youth Resiliency Through Sports."
The talk is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Azekah Jennings presently serves as the senior litigation counsel, the public affairs officer and executive U.S. Attorney for Community Affairs within the office in the District of the Virgin Islands, according to a release from the association.
A 1983 graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Law, Jennings has received numerous awards and commendations. He is a motivational speaker, and an active member of the V.I. Bar Association and the National Black Prosecutors' Association.
The association, which plays soccer as Peacemakers Youth Soccer Club and recently played the season opener, is sponsoring Jennings' talk as the first off-field activity of 2002.
Jennings' talk meets some goals of the association, the release states. These include providing opportunities for young people (ages 5 to 19) to work together as a team despite diverse backgrounds, to learn conflict resolution skills, to learn a sport that improves general health and life, and to discuss drugs and learn how to stay drug-free.
