1 KILLED, MAN IN CUSTODY AFTER FATAL SHOOTING

One man is dead and another is in police custody after a fatal shooting at the Aureo Diaz housing community in St. Croix Tuesday night.
Deputy Police Chief Novelle Francis said early Wednesday morning that the shooting apparently stemmed from an ongoing feud between the victim and the suspect. While the victim has not been identified pending notification of next of kin, Francis said, a suspect was taken into custody shortly after the reported shooting near the housing community's Building 3 Apartment 11.
"Investigators arrested Nathaniel Hazel, a resident of the Marley public housing community in Frederiksted," Francis said. He could not say whether the suspect will be charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting. An advice-of-rights hearing will be held in Territorial Court Wednesday for Hazel, Francis said.
According to Francis, as of late Tuesday night when he left the crime scene, investigators were unable to locate the weapon used in the shooting.
