MYSTERIOUS DIESEL SPILL FOULS MARINA

The Planning and Natural Resources Department was reportedly investigating the source of a diesel spill Tuesday afternoon in the marina area of America Yacht Harbor on St. Thomas' East End.
Sources have confirmed that officers of the department's enforcement division were called to the area after people at the marina spotted the oil slick.
DPNR spokeswoman Annette Morales said late Tuesday she was awaiting more details on the incident from the officers who responded to the area.
There has been no response from officials to suggestions by persons in and around the marina that the diesel fuel could have come from a commercial ferry that pumped out its bilge near the marina's waters.
