DEMOCRATS' CHAIR DECRIES SCHNEIDER 'CIRCUS'

As far as the district chair of the Democratic Party of the Virgin Islands is concerned, Thursday's presententation to the news media by former Gov. Roy L. Schneider was an "unprofessional, unethical circus."
June Adams, who chairs the oldest and most formidable political party in the territory, refuted as "ludicrous and untrue" claims by Schneider and two of his attorneys that the criminal charges brought by the Justice Department were politically motivated.
Adams also denounced attempts by the Schneider defense team to cast blame for his problems on the Turnbull administration. The public display was a desperate attempt to woo public sympathy, she said in a statement issued to the news media hours after the ex-governor made his presentation in the press conference attended by representatives of various news media that ran live as a one-hour paid political broadcast on radio station WSTA
"There is no doubt that the legacy of Gov. Roy Lester Schneider is one of fiscal mismanagement and a government out of control," Adams said in the statement.
She said the case should be "tried in the court of law and not in the court of public opinion" and added that she has "faith and confidence in the integrity and intelligence of the people of the territory that they will not be sullied by the public circus."
