St. Thomas police responded Wednesday to two unfounded calls of a bomb threat in the Crown Bay area.
The reports came 10 minutes apart, first to the Crown Bay Marina where all businesses were evacuated and then at the offices of Crowley American Transport which is just north of the marinas parking lot.
Several vessels docked at Crown Bay left the area.
Territorial Police Chief Jose Garcia said an individual called the marina office to state that there was a bomb in the building. Police conducted a thorough search of the buildings that comprise the marina complex, but no bomb was found.
The same procedure was instituted at Crowley when the bomb threat was called into that shipping company. After a search of the buildings by the police bomb squad, it was deemed safe for re-entry, Garcia said.
Bomb scares have also been called in to a downtown mall and the airport in recent weeks.
