ACTIVITIES PLANNED BY VICTIM ADVOCATES

A DVD player will be raffled off by Victim Advocate volunteers, at the United Way Flea Market from 9 a.m to 3 pm. on Saturday, Feb. 26, in Emancipation Garden. Once you’ve seen a movie played on a DVD you’ll never go back to the old VCR. Tickets are $1.00 each and you don’t have to be there to win. Funds raised will help the United Way reach their goal for the year.
From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 19, Tickles at Crown Bay will be sponsoring a Yacht Chef competition with the proceeds to benefit Victim Advocates. This is always a lot of fun and the food is terrific. For more details contact Tickles.
Runners are needed for the Women’’s Jogger Jam to be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 26. This event is sponsored by Fruit Bowl with the proceeds going to the work of Victim Advocates. T-shirts will be on sale for $15. and when you cross the finish line, you make it possible for V.A. to help more people.
All of these activities were planned at the Feb. 8 meeting of Victim Advocate volunteers at Holiday Inn. Advocates offer support for victims of accidents, domestic violence, crimes, fires and other traumatic incidents.
Each year advocates meet the needs of an increasing number of residents of St. Thomas and the funds raised make it possible for safe shelter, clothing, court preparation, transportation, medical care and counseling.
