WHAT HAPPENED TO TURNBULL'S LOFTY GOALS?

What passes for brains in the VI government? How long can Bernice Turnbull, Mr. Krigger and others believe they can stall without giving the real picture on the VI's fiscal balance?
Our territory has suffered long enough from incompetent, stalling and lying leadership from the past administration. Governor Turnbull should be ashamed of himself for not improving the status quo with his own administration.
What ever happened to all those lofty goals of cutting costs? When will we return to the no-nonsense, forward thinking positive leadership that actually improves the quality of life in the V.I.?
All of a sudden, the complaints I heard growing up about the governing administrations of Cyril King, Juan Luis and Alex Farrelly do not seem so bad. Is the present administration so frightened of the circumstances that will follow if they reveal the truth of the fiscal standings of the V.I.?
What I find most galling is the forever having meetings to discuss things that we should already have had an answer to. All that is going on is a waste of time and taxpayer money, having a meeting to discuss the meeting that we needed results for the last meeting. Oh, you didn't know that's what this meeting was for? Well, let's meet next week to discuss that, too, and we should have that thing you needed for the meeting two weeks ago for you by then. Meeting adjourned!
My final thoughts regard the WAPA sale. Why does the governor think that the $100 million or so from selling it is going to do for us, and for how long? Does he know that once sold he can't get it back? Why does he think that Southern wants to buy it? Let me tell him – Southern believes they will make that $100 million back and more, and they won't be long about doing it, either.
Why should we not keep that money making ability within our own ownership; something for us by us. The minute that thing is sold it will be a new set of complaints and grumblings. Why we can't hold on to anything? We didn't believe we could buy the WICO from the Danes, and look at it now – the one source of pride within the government infrastructure.
Please be careful Governor Turnbull, you are governing for all Virgin Islanders, not your extended family household whom you've so lavishly embraced with jobs and overtime. I, for one, will hold you accountable.
