HARWOOD HIGHWAY CLOSED FOR FOUR TO SIX WEEKS

The section of the Harwood Highway from the Medical Arts Complex to the intersection west of the John Thomas Funeral Home will be closed starting Monday for four to six weeks while Public Works installs storm drains.
The work, which is part of the Veterans Drive drainage project, was originally slated to be completed by Dec. 1.
When the project is finished, there will be a major drainage culvert from Harwood Highway by the Medical Arts Complex to the Port Authority bulkhead.
A release from Government House said the new drainage, once completed, will be capable of withstanding 100 years of storm flooding.
Public Works Commissioner Harold W. Thompson Jr. said the work is being funded through Federal Highway Administration funds.
