800 PHONES OUT ON ST. CROIX

Some 800 Vitelco customers went without telephone service Tuesday because of Hurricane Lenny and recent rainy weather.
In a press release, Vitelco President Sam Ebbeson said the outage is related to Hurricane Lenny, which struck the island on Nov. 17, and compounded by recent rains on St. Croix last week. Ebbeson said a cable problem caused 800 telephones to go out in Estate Carlton, Estate Whim and Two Williams. Ebbeson said Vitelco is working to resolve the problem and has committed increased resources to the effort.
